Crust and Filling

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes until golden. Remove and let cool completely.

  2. 2

    Make the French Silk Filling

In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate chips over a double boiler or in the microwave. Allow to cool slightly. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until thick and pale. Gradually add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Transfer the mixture to the cooled crust.

  3. 3

    Chill the Pie

Refrigerate the pie for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the filling to set.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Whipped Cream

In a separate bowl, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled pie.

  5. 5

    Add Caramel and Pecans

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the whipped cream and sprinkle with chopped pecans before serving.
