Whole Fried Snapper Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Rinse the whole snapper under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Make a few diagonal slits on both sides of the fish to help it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Fish

In a bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub this mixture all over the fish, including inside the cavity.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Breading

In a shallow dish, combine cornmeal and all-purpose flour. Dredge the seasoned fish in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring it is well-coated on all sides.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the breaded fish into the hot oil. Fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fish and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the whole fried snapper hot with pickled chilies, cajun sweet chili sauce, and remoulade sauce on the side.
