Chocolate Dome Ingredients

Method

Directions to Prepare Chocolate Dome

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chocolate Shell

Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, stirring until smooth. Allow to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Coat the Molds

Using a brush, coat the inside of silicone dome molds with melted chocolate. Ensure an even layer. Place in the refrigerator to set for about 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Make the Filling

In a saucepan, heat heavy cream until just simmering. In a bowl, whisk together sugar and egg yolks. Gradually pour the hot cream into the egg mixture while whisking constantly. Return to the saucepan and cook over low heat until thickened. Stir in vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Prepare Gelatin

Soak gelatin sheets in cold water for about 5 minutes. Once softened, add to the warm filling mixture and stir until dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

  5. 5

    Fill the Molds

Once cooled, fill the chocolate-coated molds with the filling mixture. Place in the refrigerator for about 2 hours or until set.

  6. 6

    Unmold the Chocolate Domes

Carefully remove the chocolate domes from the molds. If necessary, use a warm knife to gently ease them out.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the chocolate domes with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings.
