Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and cook until it melts and turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Blend the Flan Mixture

In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Pour the flan mixture over the cooled caramel in the baking dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the flan dish in a larger baking pan and fill the outer pan with hot water to create a water bath. Bake for about 1 hour or until the flan is set.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a serving plate, and drizzle with the caramel sauce.
