Corn Bread

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking dish or a cast-iron skillet.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

4

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Bake the Corn Bread

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6

Whipped Honey Butter

While the corn bread is baking, prepare the whipped honey butter by mixing together 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter with 1/4 cup honey in a bowl. Use a hand mixer to whip until light and fluffy.

7

Serve

Remove the corn bread from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving with the whipped honey butter.
