Prepare the Glass
Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass to moisten it. Dip the rim in salt to coat it evenly. Set the glass aside.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice.

Shake the Cocktail
Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice if desired. Garnish with a lime wedge.
