Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Make Beer Batter

Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and has no lumps. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Heat Oil

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Batter Fish

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.

  5. 5

    Fry Fish

Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.

  6. 6

    Drain Fish

Remove the fish from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Fries Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thick strips.

  2. 8

    Soak Potatoes

Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 9

    Dry Potatoes

Drain and pat the potatoes dry with a towel.

  4. 10

    Heat Oil for Fries

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 11

    Fry Potatoes

Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt.

Tartar Sauce Preparation

  1. 12

    Make Tartar Sauce

In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped dill pickles, capers, and lemon juice. Mix well.

  2. 13

    Add Fresh Dill

If desired, stir in fresh dill for added flavor.
