Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Chill Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape while cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 4

    Preheat Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. 5

    Cook Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

  3. 6

    Add Cheese (optional)

If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover until melted.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly if desired.

  2. 8

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty. Top with slices of tomato and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste.

  3. 9

    Finish Assembly

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately while hot.
