Tomato Sauce

Method

Tomato Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  2. 2

    Add the Tomatoes

Pour in the canned whole tomatoes, including their juices. Use a wooden spoon to break them up into smaller pieces.

  3. 3

    Season the Sauce

Stir in the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Finish with Basil

Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from heat and stir in the fresh basil leaves. Adjust seasoning with more salt and pepper if desired.

Alfredo Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Be careful not to let it brown.

  2. 6

    Add Cream and Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add the heavy cream and minced garlic. Stir to combine and increase the heat to medium-high.

  3. 7

    Incorporate the Cheese

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until it's melted and the sauce is smooth. Reduce the heat to low.

  4. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Continue to stir until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
