Method

Frying Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Alligator

In a bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce. Add the alligator tail meat and marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Alligator

Remove the alligator meat from the marinade and allow excess buttermilk to drip off. Dredge the pieces in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  5. 5

    Fry the Alligator

Carefully place the coated alligator pieces into the hot oil and fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve hot with tartar sauce on the side.
