Preparation and Grilling Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Salmon

In a bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, fresh dill, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Salmon

Place the Atlantic salmon fillets in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the fish, ensuring all fillets are well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Soak the Wood Chips

While the salmon is marinating, soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning too quickly during grilling.

  4. 4

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F to 400°F). If using a charcoal grill, prepare it for indirect heat.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Grill for Grilling

If using a gas grill, place the soaked wood chips in a smoker box or wrap them in aluminum foil with holes poked in it. If using charcoal, add the wood chips directly to the coals.

  6. 6

    Grill the Salmon

Remove the salmon from the marinade and let any excess drip off. Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill grates. Grill for about 6-8 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve warm with additional lemon wedges and fresh dill if desired.
