Filet Mignon Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet

Take the filet mignon out of the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the filet mignon with olive oil and season generously with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides. Ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Broiler

Preheat your hardwood grill to high heat or set your broiler to high, making sure the rack is positioned about 4–6 inches from the heat source.

  4. 4

    Cook the Filet

Place the seasoned filet mignon on the grill or in the broiler. Cook for about 4–5 minutes on one side. Flip the steak and cook for an additional 4–5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer a more well-done steak.

  5. 5

    Add Butter and Rosemary

In the last minute of cooking, add a tablespoon of butter and sprinkle fresh rosemary on top of the filet. This will enhance the flavor and add richness.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the filet from the grill or broiler and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the filet mignon against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly grilled or broiled filet!
