Fried Cheese Curds

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  2. 2

    Heat the oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 3

    Coat the cheese curds

Dip each cheese curd into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the cheese curds

Carefully place the coated cheese curds into the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  5. 5

    Drain and serve

Once fried, remove the cheese curds from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
