Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Cook the Beef
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add the diced onion and carrots. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until the onions become translucent.

Brown the Ground Beef
Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 8-10 minutes.

Add Vegetables
Stir in 1 cup of frozen peas and 1 cup of frozen corn. Mix well and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

Season the Mixture
Add 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder to the beef and vegetable mixture. Stir well and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Assemble the Shepherd's Pie
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the beef and vegetable mixture evenly in a baking dish, then top it with the mashed potatoes, smoothing them out with a spatula.

Add Cheese
Sprinkle 1 cup of grated Asiago cheese evenly over the top of the mashed potatoes.

Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Pair with Millie McFadden's Red Rye Ale and enjoy your Shepherd's Pie!
