Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth and well combined. The batter will be thin.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare Butter

In a large mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy and smooth.

  2. 9

    Mix Cocoa and Sugar

Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar to the butter, mixing well after each addition.

  3. 10

    Add Milk and Vanilla

Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, and beat the mixture until it is light and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more milk to reach the desired consistency.

  4. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  5. 12

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve. Enjoy your rich and moist chocolate cake!
