Main Ingredients

Method

Cooking the Crab

  1. 1

    Prepare the Boiling Liquid

In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 cup of sea salt and 2 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning to the boiling water, stirring until dissolved.

  2. 2

    Cook the Crab

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the blue crabs to the pot, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover the pot and allow the water to return to a boil. Once boiling, set a timer for 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the crabs (10 minutes for medium-sized crabs and 15 minutes for larger ones).

  3. 3

    Drain and Cool

After cooking, use tongs to remove the crabs from the pot and place them in a colander to drain. Let them cool for a few minutes before handling.

Preparing Dipping Butter

  1. 4

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Stir occasionally to ensure it does not burn.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic and Lemon Juice

Once the butter is melted, add 3 minced garlic cloves and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Stir well and cook on low for 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

  3. 6

    Finish with Parsley

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley. Set aside to keep warm.
