Method

Sausage Gravy

  1. 1

    Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Make the Roux

Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the cooked sausage and stir for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.

  3. 3

    Add Milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring constantly until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Season the Gravy

Add salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to taste. Keep warm while preparing the rest of the meal.

Eggs

  1. 5

    Prepare the Eggs

In a non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook to your desired doneness (sunny-side up, over-easy, etc.). Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Potatoes

  1. 6

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and cube the russet potatoes. In a separate skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the cubed potatoes, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until golden brown and tender, about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

On a plate, layer the cooked potatoes, followed by the eggs, and generously top with the sausage gravy. Finish with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar and jack cheese on top.
