French Toast

Filling

Method

Prepare the French Toast Mixture

  1. 1

    Whisk Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

Cook the French Toast

  1. 2

    Heat the Pan

Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter to melt.

  2. 3

    Dip the Bread

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated evenly.

  3. 4

    Cook the Bread

Place the coated bread slices in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Add more butter as needed.

Assemble the Monte Carlo

  1. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

Once the French toast is cooked, place a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham on top of one piece of French toast, then cover with another piece of French toast, creating a sandwich.

  2. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Return the sandwich to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on each side, pressing down gently to help the cheese melt.

Serve

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice it in half, and serve warm. Optionally, you can dust with powdered sugar or serve with syrup.
