Cooking Essentials

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Jalapeño

Wash the jalapeño pepper, remove the stem, and slice it in half lengthwise. Remove the seeds if you prefer less heat.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Egg

Crack the egg into a small bowl and set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a non-stick skillet, heat the butter or oil over medium heat until melted and hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Jalapeño

Place the sliced jalapeño halves in the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until they start to soften.

  3. 5

    Cook the Egg

Gently slide the egg into the skillet over the jalapeños. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the egg whites are set but the yolk is still runny.

  4. 6

    Add the Swiss Cheese

Place the Swiss cheese slices on top of the egg and jalapeños during the last minute of cooking. Cover the skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt.

  5. 7

    Season

Season with salt and black pepper to taste before serving.
