Salad Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Lettuce

Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly under cold running water. Pat them dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner to remove excess moisture. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Chop the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Add the chopped tomatoes to the salad bowl with the lettuce.

  3. 3

    Slice the Onion

Peel the onion and slice it thinly. If you prefer a milder flavor, soak the slices in cold water for 10 minutes, then drain. Add the onion slices to the bowl.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Cucumbers

Wash the cucumber and cut it in half lengthwise. Scoop out the seeds with a spoon if desired, then slice the cucumber into half-moons. Add the cucumber slices to the salad bowl.

Dressing Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Dressing

In a small bowl or jar, combine the olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, black pepper, and Dijon mustard. Whisk or shake well until the dressing is fully emulsified.

  2. 6

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad in the bowl. Toss the salad gently to ensure all the ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing.
