Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mixing the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined, but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Forming the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties, about ¾ inch thick.

Cooking the Toppings

  1. 3

    Cooking the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel to drain excess fat.

  2. 4

    Sautéing the Mushrooms

In the same skillet, using the bacon fat, add the mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5 minutes.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 5

    Grilling the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 6

    Adding Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Building the Burger

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, sautéed mushrooms, crispy bacon, tomato slice, and onion slice.

  2. 8

    Adding Condiments

Top with ketchup and mustard according to your taste, then place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
