Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Protein
If using raw chicken or pork, cook it first by grilling, baking, or sautéing until fully cooked. Shred or chop into bite-sized pieces.
- 2
Prepare the Beans
If using canned black beans, drain and rinse them under cold water. If using dried beans, soak and cook them according to package instructions.
- 3
Prepare the Cheese
Grate the cheddar cheese if not pre-shredded, ensuring you have about 2 cups worth.
- 4
Prepare the Toppings
Slice the jalapeños, and prepare the sour cream and pico de gallo for serving.
Assembling the Nachos
- 5
Layer the Nachos
On a large baking sheet or oven-safe platter, spread out the tortilla chips to cover the base.
- 6
Add the Protein
Evenly distribute the cooked chicken or pork over the tortilla chips.
- 7
Add the Beans
Sprinkle the black beans over the protein layer.
- 8
Add Cheese and Salsa
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top, then drizzle the salsa verde evenly across the nachos.
- 9
Bake the Nachos
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the nachos in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
