Pancake Batter

Brown Sugar-Whiskey Syrup

Method

Pancake Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Do not over-mix; small lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Add Blueberries (if using)

If you are making blueberry pancakes, gently fold in the blueberries until evenly distributed in the batter.

Cooking Pancakes

  1. 5

    Heat Griddle or Pan

Preheat a non-stick griddle or skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease with butter or cooking spray.

  2. 6

    Pour Batter

Using a measuring cup or ladle, pour about 1/4 cup of pancake batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.

  3. 7

    Cook Until Bubbles Form

Cook the pancakes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 8

    Flip and Cook Again

Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the griddle and keep warm.

Brown Sugar-Whiskey Syrup Preparation

  1. 9

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, whiskey, butter, vanilla extract, and water.

  2. 10

    Simmer to Thicken

Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.

  3. 11

    Serve Warm

Remove from heat and serve the syrup warm over the pancakes.
