Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Do not over-mix; small lumps are okay.

Add Blueberries (if using)
If you are making blueberry pancakes, gently fold in the blueberries until evenly distributed in the batter.
Cooking Pancakes

Pour Batter
Using a measuring cup or ladle, pour about 1/4 cup of pancake batter onto the hot griddle for each pancake.

Cook Until Bubbles Form
Cook the pancakes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.

Flip and Cook Again
Carefully flip the pancakes and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the griddle and keep warm.

Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, whiskey, butter, vanilla extract, and water.

Simmer to Thicken
Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 5-7 minutes, or until it thickens slightly.

Serve Warm
Remove from heat and serve the syrup warm over the pancakes.
