Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently using your hands until everything is well incorporated, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer well-done. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

  2. 6

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with slices of tomato, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Finally, cap with the top half of the bun.
