Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

If desired, rim the glass with coarse sea salt by running a lime wedge around the rim and then dipping it into a plate of sea salt. Set the glass aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Jalapeño Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine equal parts sugar and water with sliced red jalapeños. Simmer until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly. Allow to cool before using.

Mixing the Drink

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, combine the Espolón Blanco tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and red jalapeño syrup.

  2. 4

    Shake Well

Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

  3. 5

    Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice. You may serve it neat or over ice based on preference.

Garnishing

  1. 6

    Add Garnish

Garnish the drink with a lime wheel and slices of fresh red jalapeño on top. Enjoy your Fuego Margarita!
