Preparation of Ingredients

Prepare the Fresh Mozzarella
Slice the fresh mozzarella into rounds, about 1/4 inch thick, and set aside.

Slice the Tomatoes
Wash the tomatoes thoroughly, then slice them into rounds, similar to the mozzarella.

Chop the Sun-dried Tomatoes
If using whole sun-dried tomatoes, chop them into small pieces for the salsa.

Chop the Basil
Rinse the fresh basil leaves, then chop them finely.
Salsa Preparation

Mix the Salsa Ingredients
In a bowl, combine the chopped sun-dried tomatoes and chopped basil. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and mix well. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Assembly

Layer the Ingredients
On a serving platter, arrange alternating slices of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes in a circular pattern.

Top with Salsa
Spoon the sun-dried tomato and basil salsa over the layered mozzarella and tomatoes.

Drizzle the remaining tablespoon of olive oil over the assembled Caprese for added flavor.
