Country Fried Beef Steak

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Steaks

Begin by tenderizing the beef steaks using a meat mallet. Pound each steak to about 1/2 inch thickness. This will help make the steaks more tender and allow for better absorption of flavors.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In another shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Bread the Steaks

Dredge each beef steak first in the flour mixture, ensuring it's fully coated. Then dip it into the egg and milk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, return the steak to the flour mixture for a second coating. Set aside on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, about 1/4 inch deep.

  5. 5

    Fry the Steaks

Once the oil is hot and shimmering, carefully place the breaded steaks in the skillet. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

After frying, remove the steaks from the skillet and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with optional gravy drizzled on top.
