Fish and Shrimp

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish and Shrimp

Rinse the fish fillets and shrimp under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Tartar Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, dill pickles, and capers. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Batter and Frying

  1. 3

    Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add cold water, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.

  2. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, pour in vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  3. 5

    Fry the Fish

Dip each fish fillet into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place them in the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 6

    Fry the Shrimp

Repeat the battering process with the shrimp and fry them in the same oil for about 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried fish and shrimp hot with a side of tartar sauce for dipping. Enjoy your delicious Cornmeal Fried Fish & Shrimp!
