Method

Prepare Macaroni & Cheese

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until lightly browned. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Add the cooked macaroni and stir until well coated. Remove from heat and let cool.

Forming the Balls

  1. 4

    Prepare for Breading

Once the macaroni and cheese mixture has cooled, use your hands to form small balls (about 1-2 inches in diameter). Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  2. 5

    Breading Process

In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. Dip each macaroni ball first in the egg, then roll in the breadcrumb mixture to coat evenly.

Cooking the Balls

  1. 6

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 7

    Fry the Balls

Carefully add the coated macaroni balls to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the macaroni and cheese balls warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
