Key Lime Custard Ingredients
Method
Preparation Instructions
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
Mix the Custard Base
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the key lime juice, granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined. Add the sweetened condensed milk and mix until smooth.
Add Butter and Flavor
Melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave, then stir it into the custard mixture along with the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
Prepare the Baking Dish
Pour the custard mixture into a greased baking dish or individual ramekins.
Bake the Custard
Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the outer pan with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the custard dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
Cool and Serve
Remove the custard from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream or lime zest if desired.
