Method

Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil over both sides of the steaks. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms. Flip the steaks and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, adjusting the time to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the heat and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.

  2. 6

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the pot of water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 7

    Drain and Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
