Duck and Accompaniments
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Duck
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Pat the duck dry and score the skin in a crisscross pattern. Rub the duck all over with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, five spice powder, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
Roast the Duck
Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan and roast in the preheated oven for about 1.5 hours, or until the skin is crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Baste the duck with the juices every 30 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Orange Sauce
In a saucepan, combine orange juice, honey, soy sauce, cornstarch, water, and red chili flakes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until thickened, stirring constantly. Adjust salt to taste.
- 4
Serve
Once the duck is roasted, let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it in half. Serve with steamed rice, mixed greens, and drizzle with orange sauce.
