Preparation and Cooking
1. Prepare the Zucchini
Wash and dry the zucchini. Cut off the ends, then slice each zucchini into long, thin strips resembling straws.
2. Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, place the flour mixed with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
3. Bread the Zucchini Straws
Dip each zucchini strip first into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Place on a tray and repeat until all zucchini are breaded.
4. Heat the Oil
In a large, deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the Zucchini Straws
Carefully add the zucchini straws to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
6. Drain and Serve
Remove the fried zucchini straws with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
