Method
Preparation
Prepare the Ribs
Start by rinsing the pork ribs under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. This will help remove any excess moisture.
Remove the Membrane
On the bone side of the ribs, locate the silver skin (the thin membrane). Using a sharp knife, carefully slide it under the membrane and pull it off. This will help the ribs become more tender.
Dry Rub Application
Mix the Dry Rub
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all the spices are evenly distributed.
Apply the Rub
Generously rub the dry mixture all over the ribs, ensuring to coat both sides thoroughly. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
Cooking the Ribs
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Prepare Baking Sheet
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This allows the heat to circulate around the ribs while cooking.
Bake the Ribs
Place the ribs on the wire rack bone-side down. Cover tightly with another piece of aluminum foil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are tender.
Finishing Touches
Broil the Ribs
Turn on the broiler and place the ribs back in the oven, uncovered. Broil for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.
Rest and Serve
Let the ribs rest for about 10 minutes before cutting them into portions. Serve warm as a delicious appetizer.
