Prepare Taco Filling

Cook the Protein
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or chicken. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Seasoning
Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the cooked meat. Pour in the water and stir to combine. Allow to simmer for about 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

Warm Taco Shells
While the filling is simmering, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place taco shells on a baking sheet and warm them in the oven for about 5 minutes.
Assemble Tacos

Fill Taco Shells
Remove taco shells from the oven. Spoon the meat mixture evenly into each taco shell.

Add Toppings
Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños as desired.

Serve Chips and Dips
Place tortilla chips in a serving bowl. Serve alongside queso dip and salsa for dipping.
