Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties about 3/4 inch thick.

Cook the Bacon

  1. 3

    Fry the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, add the thick sliced bacon. Cook until crispy, turning occasionally, about 6-8 minutes. Once done, remove and drain on paper towels.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 4

    Grill or Pan-Fry

In the same skillet or on a grill preheated to medium-high, cook the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side.

  2. 5

    Add Cheese

Flip the patties, place a slice of American cheese on each patty, and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the burgers are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them if desired.

  2. 7

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by the cooked burger patty with melted cheese, crispy bacon, a slice of tomato, and a slice of onion.

  3. 8

    Add Condiments

Top with ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.
