Ahi Preparation

Cilantro Lime Rice

Serving

Method

Ahi Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ahi Tuna

Pat the Ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel and season both sides with the blackened spice mix, pressing it into the fish to ensure it adheres.

  2. 2

    Sear the Tuna

Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned Ahi tuna steaks and sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare. The exterior should be blackened while the inside remains pink. Remove from heat and let rest.

Cilantro Lime Rice

  1. 3

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the jasmine rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

  2. 4

    Flavor the Rice

Remove the rice from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, fluff the rice with a fork and stir in the chopped cilantro, lime juice, and salt until evenly mixed.

Serving

  1. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Slice the seared Ahi tuna into thin strips. Serve the blackened Ahi atop a bed of cilantro lime rice, accompanied by warm corn tortillas on the side.
