Tart Crust and Filling

Method

Preparation and Baking

  1. 1

    Make the Tart Crust

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the unsalted butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until the dough comes together. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Apples

While the dough is chilling, peel, core, and slice the Fuji apples. Toss them in a bowl with bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Roll out the Dough

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a tart pan. Transfer the dough to the pan, trimming any excess.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Tart

Spread the feuilletine evenly over the bottom of the tart crust. Layer the apple mixture on top, ensuring an even distribution. Sprinkle the chopped mixed nuts over the apples.

  5. 5

    Bake the Tart

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
