Method
Chicken Tenders
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Cut the boneless chicken breasts into strips about 1 inch wide.
- 2
Make the Battering Mixture
In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
- 3
Prepare the Wet Mixture
In another bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk until smooth.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Batter the Chicken
Dip each chicken strip into the wet mixture, then coat thoroughly in the dry batter mixture. Shake off excess flour.
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place battered chicken strips into the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Fries
- 7
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into long, thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick).
- 8
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 9
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 10
Season the Potatoes
Drain and pat the potatoes dry with a paper towel. In a large bowl, toss the potatoes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- 11
Bake the Fries
Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden brown.
