Bar-B-Que Sauce

Southern Coleslaw

Method

Bar-B-Que Sauce

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bar-B-Que Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 15-20 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.

Pulled Pork

  1. 3

    Prepare the Pork Shoulder

Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Make sure to cover all sides.

  2. 4

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  3. 5

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

  4. 6

    Mix with Sauce

Mix the shredded pork with the prepared Bar-B-Que sauce until well-coated.

Southern Coleslaw

  1. 7

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage and grated carrot.

  2. 8

    Make the Dressing

In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 9

    Combine and Chill

Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot mixture. Toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
