Bonuts Ingredients
Method
Bonuts Directions
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
Combine Ingredients
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Shape the Bonuts
On a floured surface, roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch in diameter).
Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Bonuts
Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
Make the Frosting
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add in the powdered sugar and bourbon, mixing until fluffy.
Coat with Cinnamon Sugar
In a small bowl, mix together some granulated sugar and cinnamon. While the bonuts are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar.
Serve
Serve the bonuts warm with bourbon cream cheese frosting on the side or with berry jam.
