Chicken Strips

Pickle Spears

Method

Chicken Strips

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

Cut the chicken breast into strips and place them in a bowl. Pour in the buttermilk and mix well to ensure all pieces are coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Bread the Chicken

Remove the chicken strips from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in the flour mixture, coating evenly. Shake off any excess flour.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the breaded chicken strips into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Texas Toast

  1. 6

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle garlic powder and parsley (if using) over the butter.

  2. 7

    Bake the Toast

Place the slices butter-side up on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are crispy and golden.

Pickle Spears

  1. 8

    Prepare the Pickles

Slice the dill pickles into spears and set aside for serving.

Sauces

  1. 9

    Serve the Sauces

Place the jalapeño ranch sauce and BOB sauce in small bowls for dipping. You can choose to serve either one or both, depending on your preference.
