Method

Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Slice the Madagascar vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape the seeds into the mixture, and mix well.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Baking

  1. 6

    Prepare Baking Pan

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 7

    Pour Batter

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  3. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 9

    Cool

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 10

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.

  2. 11

    Beat Until Stiff Peaks

Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on high until stiff peaks form.

Serving

  1. 12

    Serve Cake

Slice the cooled cake and serve with a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.
