Preparing the Patties

Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Flip and Add Cheese
Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or until cooked to your desired level.
Assembling the Burger

Prepare Buns
While the patties are cooking, cut the burger buns in half. Toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by a slice of tomato, a pickle slice, and the cooked patty with melted cheese.
