Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tofu

Gently drain the soft tofu and cut it into cubes. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

In a wok or large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the ground pork and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

  3. 3

    Add Aromatics and Sauces

Add minced garlic, ginger, and the chopped green onions (reserve some for garnish) to the pork. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir in the doubanjiang, douchi, soy sauce, and Sichuan peppercorns.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Broth and Tofu

Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and bring to a simmer. Gently add the tofu cubes, being careful not to break them. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Thicken the Sauce

In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir this into the simmering mixture to thicken the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  6. 6

    Finish and Serve

Drizzle sesame oil and chili oil over the dish. Garnish with remaining chopped green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice.
