Lasagna Noodles

Meat Sauce

Ricotta Cheese Mixture

Method

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add the Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the meat mixture. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Prepare the Ricotta Cheese Mixture

  1. 4

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix well until smooth.

Assemble the Lasagna

  1. 5

    Layer Ingredients

In a large baking dish (at least 9x13 inches), spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of meat sauce and remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake the Lasagna

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 7

    Cover and Bake

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

  3. 8

    Uncover and Continue Baking

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  4. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
