Base Ingredients

Method

Ice Cream Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Base Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

  2. 2

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.

Churning the Ice Cream

  1. 3

    Prepare the Ice Cream Maker

If using an ice cream maker, make sure to freeze the bowl according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 4

    Churn the Ice Cream

Pour the chilled ice cream base into the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually around 20-25 minutes.

Adding Flavors

  1. 5

    Incorporate Optional Flavorings

During the last 5 minutes of churning, you can add any optional flavorings like cocoa powder, chopped fruits, or chocolate chips to the mixture. This is the time to get creative!

Freezing the Ice Cream

  1. 6

    Transfer to Storage Container

Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container.

  2. 7

    Freeze Until Firm

Cover the container and place it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until the ice cream is firm enough to scoop.
