Method

Preparing the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the ground Black Angus beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use your hands to mix the ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If desired, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Bun

While the patty is cooking, slice the burger bun in half and toast it on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until lightly golden.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Add tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.
