Method

Preparation

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).

  2. 2

In a large roasting pan, place the bone-in ham and score the surface in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife.

  3. 3

Insert whole cloves into the intersections of the scored lines.

Making the Broth

  1. 4

In a large mixing bowl, combine the chicken broth, brown sugar, honey, and Dijon mustard. Whisk until well combined.

  2. 5

Add minced garlic, quartered onions, chopped carrots, chopped celery, bay leaves, and black peppercorns to the broth mixture. Stir to combine.

  3. 6

Pour the broth mixture over the ham in the roasting pan.

Baking the Ham

  1. 7

Cover the roasting pan tightly with aluminum foil.

  2. 8

Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140°F (60°C).

  3. 9

Remove the foil during the last 30 minutes of baking and baste the ham with the broth every 10 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  1. 10

Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before slicing.

  2. 11

Serve the ham warm, drizzled with some of the broth and garnished with the roasted vegetables.

  3. 12

Enjoy your delicious baked ham in broth with your favorite sides!
