Method

For the Buttermilk Pie

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If using a store-bought pie crust, place it in a 9-inch pie dish and set aside. If making your own, roll out the dough and fit it into the pie dish.

  2. 2

    Mix the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, granulated sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Melt the butter and stir it into the mixture.

  3. 3

    Bake the Pie

Pour the buttermilk filling into the prepared pie crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely before serving.

For the Blueberry Sauce

  1. 4

    Prepare the Blueberry Sauce

In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh blueberries, granulated sugar, water, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and the mixture begins to thicken, about 10-15 minutes.

  2. 5

    Serve

Once the sauce has thickened, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Serve the warm blueberry sauce over slices of the buttermilk pie.
